Built in the 1890's, Sharples Works factory complex was home to the Sharples Tubular Centrifugal Separator, the first of its kind in the United States, for the process of cream separation. Sharples Works is now home to an apartment complex in West Chester. The factory was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The apartment complex boasts luxurious living while maintaining the historic integrity and character of the original factory.
